“God—spouse—kids—work… That is how to live.”

That line from one of the sonnets in my book, Mentored for Good, captures something it’s taken me years—and a lot of grace—to truly understand. What I’ve learned is this: when our priorities are out of order, our lives often follow.

I didn’t always live this way. There was a time in my life when my priorities were flipped upside down; work always came first, and everything else had to fight for scraps of my attention. I thought I was doing the right thing by providing, staying productive, and pushing forward. Over time, I started to feel the cracks at home, in my faith, and in my own sense of peace. But through prayer, honest reflection, and the wisdom of mentors placed in my life, I began to realign.

With Jesus at the center, I started to listen more, give more, and reorder my days around the things that feed my soul instead of draining it. My wife is a living example of this. She always blesses herself with the Sign of the Cross (which I jokingly call “Quick Draw”) before stepping out the door. It’s second nature to her, and it reminds me how natural it should be to put God first. So, when I begin my day by giving time to Jesus, show up fully for my wife, stay present with my children, and approach work as a service rather than a race, everything shifts.

We’re all called to live intentionally, and often it’s the mentors around us who hold up the mirror and help us see where we’re really headed.

Lighting the Way: How Mentorship Brings Us Closer to Jesus

Isn’t it amazing how hope can find us just when we need it? Just like Jesus promised, “I am with you always,” we never walk alone, especially when we have mentors who guide us with wisdom and love. That’s why the arrival of Pope Leo XIV feels like a fresh breath of hope for all of us. His role isn’t just about leading the Church; it’s about being a mentor to millions, helping us follow Jesus more closely in our daily lives.

I was always moderately successful in business. On this day, I found myself at a crossroads, scared. I was struggling, but I still attended my men’s prayer group. I was overwhelmed with emotion about what I was going to do after. In front of thirty or so guys, I broke down and cried. One man pulled me aside and gave me some simple advice. I could see that he cared. It changed my course that day. And I’ll never forget how he was just there for me, and mentoring me out of a problematic situation taught me to pay it forward someday.

One of my other mentors stood up and told us not to forget that, as fathers, we are called to support our families, and that alone comes with its own set of challenges. But he pointed out that we need to be there for one another because it is in that support that we save ourselves from failure. The men that day stood tall with me and reflected on how we, as leaders of our families, can hurt. What would have happened if I hadn’t gone to my meeting that day? I knew then I had to go even when I didn’t want to—just in case someone else needed me, in case I had to listen. After all, what is a men’s group or a friendship if you don’t get transparent and vulnerable? There is POWER in that dynamic.

That experience showed me the power of having someone who listens, supports, and encourages us to keep growing.

As the new Pope assumes his role, let us open our hearts to his guidance and remember that we, too, can be mentors, reflecting Jesus’ light in the lives of those around us. Together, we can walk this journey of faith with renewed hope and purpose.

I’ve come to realize that life was never meant to be navigated alone. Looking back, I see how the people who crossed my path—mentors, guides, sometimes even strangers—shaped me in ways I didn’t fully understand at the time. Mentoring Moment: Living Next to Greatness (and Not Even Knowing It)

Let me share a story with you—a story about finding greatness in places you might not expect.

I never imagined I’d live next door to an NFL quarterback, especially one who had played in the Super Bowl against my beloved 1985 Chicago Bears. But that’s exactly what happened when I got to know Steve Grogan through our neighborhood Bible study.

I did what any curious fan would do... I looked him up. But what really stood out to me wasn’t his accomplishments, it was how little he talked about them. He’s humble, kind, and quick to laugh, even at my not-so-funny jokes. What struck me the most was how someone who had achieved so much could carry himself so lightly.

One time, I asked Steve how long I’d last in an NFL locker room with my humor. He smiled and said, “You’d be the guy who keeps everyone relaxed.” That simple answer stuck with me. It was more than just a compliment, it was a window into how Steve lived his life.

He showed me that respect, kindness, and a good attitude can be just as important as any big achievement. That made me realize that true greatness doesn’t always shout for attention. Sometimes it’s shown in how a person treats others and the quiet strength they carry.

Now, when I see Steve, I don’t just see a former Super Bowl quarterback, I see a neighbor and a mentor.

Risen with Christ: A Journey of Renewal and Hope

As we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord during this holy season of Easter, we are reminded of the incredible power of new beginnings. The Lord has risen, bringing light and hope into the world, and with His resurrection comes the promise of renewal. Just as He was resurrected, we too are called to rise, to shed the old and embrace the new.

This season is a perfect opportunity to reflect on our own lives and the paths we are walking. It's never too late to renew our spirits, to reconnect with our purpose, and to rediscover the joy and peace that come from living with intention and faith. We don’t have to wait for a "perfect" moment or for everything to fall into place—like the Lord, we too can experience a resurrection in our hearts, no matter where we are in life.

From early home life, through high school and college, church and joining the workforce, there were many “mentors” who showed me the way. They often inspired me to be greater. In some cases, it was their “enlightened self-interest” that helped me out, but for many, it was a true desire to teach a student. They are the saints in my life. I call myself a Lifetime Mentee.

I concluded a few years ago that I’m happy with whom I’ve become. Are you happy with who you have become? I am. But I didn’t get here by myself. As mentioned, I am the beneficiary of many God-inspired mentors well placed at various times throughout my life. Do you remember who lifted you up at various times in your life? Who inspired you to actively change your course?

Do you remember what they taught you? I do. I remember. I remember them all. I’m the guy who listened. I took notes. I practiced. I attended seminars to be inspired. I read books. I listened to the audios. I watched the videos. Now I want all of my mentors to know I love them for it.

So, as we reflect on the resurrection, let’s also reflect on how we can breathe new life into our own journeys. Whether we’re seeking healing, clarity, or simply a deeper connection to God, the opportunity for renewal is here and now. It’s never too late to take that first step toward transformation. And, like me, there’s plenty of help all round us, if you just ask.

I’ve come to realize that we are in a real spiritual battle—one that’s slowly pulling us away from the truth, from one another, and ultimately from God. I see it every day: division within families, friendships torn apart, and a culture that’s growing more and more apathetic to what offends our Creator. These aren’t just social shifts; they’re signs of something deeper. And while it might feel overwhelming, I believe now more than ever, we need to reclaim our faith and live it out boldly. That means going back to the basics—relearning the Ten Commandments, returning to the sacraments, having the courage to engage in hard conversations, and choosing to see Christ in everyone we meet.

I call myself the Catholic Mentee because I’ve spent years studying the faith, not just in books, but in everyday life, through mistakes and moments of grace. I’ve felt how easy it is to drift, and how powerful it is to return. This isn’t about preaching; it’s about waking up and realizing we can’t afford to stay silent anymore. Our souls and the souls of those we love are worth the effort.

Finding Faith and Growth This Lenten Season

As we move through the year, certain seasons call us to pause and reflect. And the Lenten season is one of those times, inviting us to embrace repentance, self-reflection, and a renewed commitment to faith. It is a reminder of sacrifice, grace, and the opportunity to grow spiritually. From Palm Sunday to Easter, we are encouraged to examine our hearts, seek forgiveness, and draw closer to God in both thought and action.

For what it’s worth, here are some of my most important life lessons. Despite facing numerous challenges, I always remained faithful. I created a protective barrier around myself and my loved ones. Although not always, I frequently incorporated Christ into my daily life physically and spiritually. I adorned my surroundings with crosses, pictures, Rosaries, and statuary, not for worship but as reminders. I even wore a brown scapular and gave Miraculous Medals to my family members.

My wife always found encouragement when I engaged in "church" activities, and she could join me in prayer when I did so openly. Regularly meeting with other men to discuss faith taught me the importance of continuously working on my parenting, health, education, and spiritual well-being.

Reconciliation served as an affordable form of therapy, although I wish I had done it more frequently. It inspired me to have meaningful conversations about life with trusted individuals. Thanks to my involvement in the church, I have had many friends I can confide in without worrying about the consequences. In fact, at times, I felt as accountable to these men as my wife. Being a good man for my wife and children was a driving force within me.

This season of reflection aligns with the work I do in mentorship, speaking, and faith-based discussions. My goal is to help others navigate their spiritual journeys with purpose and conviction. Lent reminds us that faith is not just a personal journey but one we are called to share. By guiding, uplifting, and passing on wisdom, we honor those who have mentored us and continue the cycle of growth.

When Words Fail In Grief, Offer A Hand

When my friends suddenly lost their child, I wanted to be there for them—but I didn’t know how. No words felt right, and nothing I did seemed enough. I was grieving too, not in the same way, but in the helplessness of not knowing how to ease their pain.

My Grieving Hand came from that place—a personal search for understanding, for the right way to offer comfort when loss feels unbearable. Each Palm Sunday, my family takes the blessed palms and carefully crafts them into crosses, a tradition that keeps us connected to those we pray for and those who have influenced us.

Now, I have the privilege of teaching my grandchildren this practice, just as my mentors taught me. It’s a reminder that our role is not just to walk the path of faith but to guide others along the way, ensuring that what we have learned is never lost.

Marching Forward: Built to Grow, Built to Lead

We are all works in progress—always growing, learning, and refining who we are meant to be. Just as every strong structure relies on a solid foundation, our lives are shaped by those who guide, challenge, and support us. No one builds alone; we are strengthened by the wisdom of those who came before us and the encouragement of those who walk beside us.

I discovered that finding one person who can give you everything you need to grow is rare. Looking back, I’ve realized that I made it a habit to seek out people who were better than me at everything! Remember when you were a kid on the playground, and it came time to choose sides? I’ll bet you chose the better players. Why? Probably because your instinct was to win. And better players can help you win. That instinct doesn’t stop as you grow up. Sometimes, we stop asking for the better players to be on our team. Choosing mentors is a lot like that. My mentors were better at certain things than me. I learned that not everyone can be a mentor, so I had to be selective. But if I wanted to be a champion in my endeavor, I wanted to learn from the best.

As we enter March, a time that reminds us to keep "marching" forward with faith and intention, let’s take a moment to appreciate the people who have helped shape us. The mentors, role models, and friends who have challenged us to be better. And just as we have been guided, let’s also step into the role of builders—lifting others up, offering guidance, and being a steady presence for those who will come after us. Because the strongest structures aren’t just built to last; they’re built to support and inspire generations to come.

The Power of Love

As we step into February, the month of love, I'm reminded of how powerful love is in all aspects of our lives—not just in our relationships, but also in the way we approach our work, our faith, and the way we connect with others. It’s a time to reflect on the people who have shaped us and the ways we show up for others.

For me, love has always been at the heart of what I do. Whether it's through the mentorship I've received and given or the stories I share, love is the thread that connects everything.

One Sunday at Mass, our associate pastor gave his homily. He was young, smart, and funny. He liked visual aids when he spoke. He was entertaining, but this time, he seemed especially wise for such a young man. He preached about how we abuse the gift of the word love in our daily language and how it cheapens its meaning. “I love this show.” “Don’t you just love it?” “I love these jeans!”

He suggested we replace the word “love” with “life” and see instantly how our “love” improves. My wife and I found it so impactful that we committed right there and then. Ever since, our “love” has changed for the better. It works! I LIFE you! Will you try it?

These experiences have inspired me to be more intentional in my work, whether speaking, writing, or leading workshops—finding ways to help others see the beauty of connection and the impact of caring for one another.

As we celebrate this month, let's also celebrate the power of love to inspire and transform, and remember that each day offers us a chance to make a difference in someone else's life.

Have you ever stopped to think about the power of new beginnings?

As 2025 kicks in, I can’t help but feel a quiet sense of hope and possibility. There's something about this time that feels like a blank page, ready to be filled with new chapters. It's a moment to leave behind what no longer serves us, reflect on the lessons we've learned, and step forward into what’s to come with a renewed sense of courage.

I’ve been thinking about the moments that have shaped me—those unexpected encounters, the little and big victories, and the times I’ve stumbled and learned. Since I was a kid, I was mostly willing to take advice. I was open-minded about receiving help because I knew if someone was engaging with me, it was logical they were trying to help me. It was an enjoyable time of life as I reflected on how I began my journey by being so willing to seek out mentors. I remember my sister telling me she thought it appropriate that I get a college degree in marketing because of my gift of gab. It only took me a lifetime to learn to be a good listener. Oh well!

A Willing Mentee - I Was Young & Innocent

Since I was a kid, I was mostly willing to take advice.

I was open minded about receiving help because I knew if someone was engaging me, it was logical they were trying to help me.

It was an interesting time of life as I reflect on how I began my journey through being so willing to seek out mentors. I remember my sister telling me she thought it appropriate that I get a college degree in marketing because of my gift of gab. It only took me a lifetime to learn that I needed to be a good listener. Oh well!

So I wanted to write a series of sonnet stories from a time in my life when I was beginning to hear new ideas and form my philosophies. So, I wrote a series of lessons I learned and some reflections on a time when I was recognizing all the good mentoring I was receiving. God puts people in our path to lead us to sainthood; if we are willing to be vulnerable, passionate, and open. I wasn’t always positive about receiving help or criticism. But I almost never frowned upon advice. I looked at it as something missing that I needed, or as a hole in my personality.

Mentors were willing to teach me, and I became a sponge for their knowledge. How do you look at being mentored? Or do you like to mentor others with your special gifts? Hmmm…

Remember your leaders who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.(Hebrews 13:7) Praise be Jesus Christ!

Getting Back to God - Today!!

Why can’t you see what is obvious? We are in a Spiritual battle...

Satan is alive and we are in a spiritual battle that is dividing us from our closest relations; our closest friends and immediate families.

If you are watching and listening you would clearly know these are irregular times we are living through. The acceptance of complete apathy toward what offends God is normal. Today, I do not want to speak to what we all know is wrong, i.e., abortion, transgenderism, gender ideology, condemning others for their fallen nature while overlooking our own sinful behavior. I want to address the worst of these crimes that will affect your soul.

The complete or partial turning away from God himself…and not caring enough to correct this behavior.

From the pulpit, a church that was doing its duty would have to speak about these issues regularly, if only to work as a counterweight against this era. In doing so, they would show true love and kindness. They would have to point out that we have seen this behavior before all throughout history. It’s been said that in the days of pagan Rome, the minds of men were so warped with the images of debauchery that it would have made the path to Heaven virtually impossible.

As every area of public and private life gets infected with deviancy, it affects our thoughts and behavior. What we perceive as common becomes what we are willing to accept, if only out of tired resignation.

And so, in the Church as in the world, we begin to accept the unacceptable. We excuse what we have seen before because we have seen it before. It’s how we become blind to liturgical abuses and begin accepting the unacceptable as normal.

What can you do today to correct your path and point your life to Christ? Simple. Re-learn the Ten Commandments. Go to Reconciliation. Go to a Eucharistic adoration chapel and sit before the creator of the universe and ask for forgiveness. Let go of the things that negatively affect your mind. Forgive seven times seventy…whether or not others forgive you. And lastly, do not avoid difficult conversations because they make you feel bad or are afraid of offending. We are far past the time to speak up.

I call myself the Catholic Mentee for a reason. I have studied and lived out the teachings of the Catholic church for most of my life. I can say it can be daunting to understand the “fullness of the faith”. In your church, it may not appear to have been been preached from the pulpit or you may not have been paying attention. This is why, as a layperson of the church, I try to do my part in helping those around me to see what I see.

From Palms to Crosses - Mentoring the Next Generation

From early home life, through high school and college, church and joining the workforce, there were many “mentors” who showed me the way.

They often inspired me to be greater. In some cases, it was their “enlightened self-interest” that helped me out, but for many, it was a true desire to teach a student. They are the saints in my life. Do you know who the saints have been in your life? Do you remember who lifted you up when you were in need? Who really inspired you to actively be better and change your course? I remember. I remember them all.

I’m the guy who listened. I took notes. I practiced. I attended seminars to be inspired. I read the books. I listened to the audios. I watched the videos. Now I want all of my mentors to know I love them for it.

I crossed paths with many mentors, friends, and influencers of all types as I grew up. I was a sponge throughout my life. I learned that there is really no separation between your home and work life. They are a continuation of the same behaviors. As I reflected on how the story of my life in mentorship unfolded, it became clear that there were phases in my development. I now see these stages as ongoing—not necessarily based on age maturity but rather on emotional maturity.

I need to be actively engaged, as best I can, to mentor the next generation nd teach what I've learned before it is lost. One of my best mentors saw the opportunity to create a course called Grandparents Matter . Yes, I’m the guy who took a course to learn how to be a better grandparent. Like most grandparents, time and distance can present themselves as problems to overcome when mentoring. . Problems to overcome, but do your best when you can. The influence of my mentors is ringing out in my mind loud and clear. Keep the next generation in the faith. Keep God in their presence…and always be their guide.

On Palm Sunday, it has been a ritual in our family to take the palms we receive, have them blessed, and creatively turn them into crosses. Those crosses represent family members and special people in our life to pray for…for the next year. Here is my opportunity to teach my grandkids to make crosses. Three distinct personalities; three crosses; keeping the tradition alive. Praise be Jesus Christ for the opportunity to be with you physically and in mind and spirit.

Lenten Look Back

Over the course of my life, I have learned about the pain of Jesus…

– offering your pain at the foot of the cross...that much of our growth is in the valleys of life not the peaks. In fact, when I was on a spiritual retreat a monk told me to look for the discomfort in my life so I would examine it and I could grow closer to CHRIST.

Now, in my retirement, I can stand here and tell you my family is strengthen. My wife sees me as the spiritual leader and credits my faith with keeping the family together in its worst storms.

My oldest daughter recently reflected on her past and told me, “...I remember watching you see your little girl stray from God’s path and search for comfort in the devil. You never lost faith but only let your light shine brighter for me to find my way. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for your love and conviction.” She sees me as a holy man and wants her husband to be like me. Her “prodigal moment” has resulted in her conviction to her faith life and the building of a her own strong Catholic family.

My son actually told me that I bring him closer to GOD and that I am the reason he wanted to be a father someday. He is as “whole” a person as any parent could ask for. He is now the father of two wonderful young babies.

As we all do, painful issues in their lives have allowed me the opportunity to be front and center in my faith to guide them. One of my daughters has an immune disorder that needs daily attention while my youngest has struggled with her own demons that keep me praying for her faith life to grow. My daughters know I’m their earthly father; and love watching the Stooges with me! Seeking humor helps relieve some of life's discomfort.

Life is a daily struggle but much easier with faith. As I continue in my journey, I know my purpose is to show my faith and let others see my “glow”. Struggles will continue until we meet our Father in Heaven. Struggle defines us. It’s in the pits and valleys in life that we often grow closer to our savior. I learned that without my leadership and faith life I would have minimal influence on others close to me and could not model the behavior we all want for our children.

God is good. I know it now. My hope is you do to! Praise be Jesus Christ!

I'm Happy With Whom I've Become!

Throughout my life, I have fully embraced the role of a Catholic Mentee.

I have dedicated myself to learning, absorbing knowledge, and living out the teachings of this faith. Now, I have made a commitment to share this wisdom with others, thanks to a special agreement with the Holy Spirit.

Trusted friends have described me as possessing the wit of St. Lawrence, the storytelling prowess of St. John Bosco, and a comedic passion for the Three Stooges. As a Catholic author, I firmly believe that becoming a 'Catholic Mentee' has been the key ingredient to my success. In most aspects of my life, I rarely hesitated to seek guidance from those who had achieved greater accomplishments in the areas I was focusing on. By surrounding myself with individuals who excelled in various fields, I was able to benefit from their wisdom and blessings.

Before discovering my talent for writing, I was renowned as the reigning champion of the "National Three Stooges Trivia Contest" - a skill that I seamlessly incorporated into my public speaking engagements, delighting my audiences. My first business used the Three Stooges image as a promotional display at conventions. What can I say, I had success not taking myself so seriously!

As my devotion to praying the Rosary grew, so did my business, philanthropic endeavors, and now my authorship. My unwavering faith is strengthened by the presence of the Divine Mercy Image of Jesus, which I kept close to me at work. When you entered my office, you knew exactly where I stood.

I have made it a habit to integrate my Catholic faith into every aspect of my life, and through my actions, I have become a mentor to others. I am content with the person I have become, and I attribute my personal growth to the guidance and influence of the men and women who have shaped me over the past forty years, as well as my ability to infuse humor into all of my interactions.

I've Lived and Am Living a Mentored Life that's Worthy of Sharing...

Matthew 5:14-16 You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house. Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.

Mentors are all around us. Here is my testimony to the wonderful people mentoring me on my Catholic authoring journey... specifically Gail Jean Coniglio (@GailConiglio) and Ellen Gable Hrkach (@EllenGable) . Both of these professionals have wrapped their arms around me and convinced me my messages are needed in today's world.

Thank you for all your advice. Your invaluable input has put me in a new position to promote myself as an energetic, philanthropic new author and potential speaker. Before I came to you,

I was lost in how to promote myself.
I had already written and published 6 spirit-filled books, eBooks, audio, and song stories designed to bring people back to the

fullness of the faith in everyday living.

I spent the better part of two years creating my ministry with limited marketing but quick acceptance.

Gail , the main reason I came to you was for the promotion work you do and the possibility that you thought of me as a worthy new client. With your advice,

I now have my author website .
I have a Catholic identity (CATHOLIC MENTEE) and describe myself rather humorously as someone who is happy with myself

Here is what I have to look forward to this year:

I now have a robust social media presence and better understand what it takes to promote my writings to the world.
In 2024 it was suggested that my daughter (Heather Momper) and I should conduct some interviews exploring the beauty of working together to bring God’s kingdom to families.
We are currently producing another album of music that will lift people’s spirits with much needed themed messages for today’s living…not to mention the glory of the Father/Daughter experience. The release of this album is planned for Q2 2024.
AND…I am working on my next book to help bring prayer to families (from a lay perspective) called Mentored by Prayer.

OK, I get it now!

I was watching this Catholic YouTuber interview my friend, Dr. Paul Camarata, who happens to be the producer of The SaintCast, which is one of my absolute favorite podcasts. Right after that, something amazing happened. I mean, I've lost count of how many times people have told me to pray the Rosary, but this time it really hit me. It stuck, you know?

After the interview, the host dropped this suggestion. He said, "If you're not praying the Rosary every single day, you're not on the team!" Well, let me tell you, after hearing that I was determined to be on the team. No doubt about it. Around that same time, the Archdiocese in KCKS decided to launch this brand new Rosary podcast. The host was the Holy Family School of Faith, with Dr. Mike Scherschligt and Dr. Troy Hinkel. Let me tell you, their version of the Rosary, mixed with Catholic theology, really spoke to me. It was like they were talking directly to my soul. Ever since then, I've been soaking up all that knowledge like a sponge. Seriously, I can't get enough. Then I made the commitment to Mary through the Brown Scapular. I even had the whole ceremony with my priest to bless this event.

Let me tell you, my prayers have been on point ever since. It's been almost four years now, and I can honestly say that I've been getting better at prayer every single day. Oh, and here's the best part. Right after all of this, my writing journey began. It's like everything fell into place. Six books. A new song album. It's been an incredible ride, and I can't wait to see where it takes me next. Prayer first. Inspiration next. I wish I absorbed this lesson sooner!

Thank You to Those Who Helped Mold Me into the Man I Am Today

As I look back on my life, I can't help but think about all the people who played a part in shaping me into who I am today. I didn't become this version of myself on my own.

From my early years at home, to my time in high school and college, to finding my place in the workforce, there were countless mentors who guided me along the way. They not only motivated me to strive for greatness, but also showed me the path to success.

Some of them helped me out because it served their own interests, but many genuinely wanted to impart their knowledge to me. And then there were those who inspired me simply by living their own lives. They are the saints in my life.

Have you ever thought about who the saints are in your life? Can you recall the people who lifted you up when you needed it the most? The ones who truly inspired you to become a better person and change your direction? I remember. I remember each and every one of them.

I'm the kind of person who listens. I take notes. I put what I learn into practice. I attend seminars to find inspiration. I read books, listen to audio recordings, and watch videos to expand my knowledge. And now, I want all of my mentors to know how much I appreciate them for everything they've taught me and the way they lead their lives. I consider myself a lifetime mentee of theirs. I hope I’ve made them proud. Happy Thanksgiving!

A Sonnet – My 90-Year-Old Prayer Warrior Neighbor

Sometimes, us authors daydream and hope for a sudden burst of inspiration, but more often than not, it seeps into our lives like a gentle whisper, easily missed if we're not attentive.

Just when I had committed to praying the rosary daily and rekindling my prayer life, I noticed my ninety-year-old neighbor walking by outside my office window. Every single day. Alone. Engrossed in prayer, clutching his rosary. It was definitely a sign. Here's my simple tribute to my friend who Jesus put in my path, literally!

Ninety years and going strong

you impress us with your life.

You guide us with your rosary

to remove our daily strife.

With rosary in hand, you will,

walk all around our park.

Your devotion to our Lady is

what gives us all a spark.

Inspired to remain in prayer

for the current state of man;

You ask our Lady to intercede

as often as she can.

Just pray like Bill with his grace filled plea

as he leads us to the gates…

of Heaven where we’ll dance on in

where a greater life awaits.

You are our leader of the rosary

that we have come to know.

When the pandemic hit, we all had a choice to either drift away from God or draw closer to Him. I enthusiastically chose the latter. However, I needed some guidance to find my way.

Sometimes, us authors daydream and hope for a sudden burst of inspiration, but more often than not, it seeps into our lives like a gentle whisper, easily missed if we're not attentive. Some of my cherished mentors have said, "If you don't pray the rosary every day, you're not part of the team!" And there, like a guardian angel from next door, was Bill. His daily ritual became one of my sources of inspiration to return to prayer. Prayer took precedence, inspiration followed suit. Even stooges aspire to loftier positions...pray for us too!
