Real Talk on Priorities, Peace, and Putting First Things First

“God—spouse—kids—work… That is how to live.”
That line from one of the sonnets in my book, Mentored for Good, captures something it’s taken me years—and a lot of grace—to truly understand. What I’ve learned is this: when our priorities are out of order, our lives often follow.
I didn’t always live this way. There was a time in my life when my priorities were flipped upside down; work always came first, and everything else had to fight for scraps of my attention. I thought I was doing the right thing by providing, staying productive, and pushing forward. Over time, I started to feel the cracks at home, in my faith, and in my own sense of peace. But through prayer, honest reflection, and the wisdom of mentors placed in my life, I began to realign.
With Jesus at the center, I started to listen more, give more, and reorder my days around the things that feed my soul instead of draining it. My wife is a living example of this. She always blesses herself with the Sign of the Cross (which I jokingly call “Quick Draw”) before stepping out the door. It’s second nature to her, and it reminds me how natural it should be to put God first. So, when I begin my day by giving time to Jesus, show up fully for my wife, stay present with my children, and approach work as a service rather than a race, everything shifts.
We’re all called to live intentionally, and often it’s the mentors around us who hold up the mirror and help us see where we’re really headed.
If any of this resonates with you, I invite you to read more sonnets and stories in Mentored for Good—written not from perfection, but from a life that's been guided, humbled, and renewed through grace and the mentors who helped me find my way.
Be A Willing Mentee
When you’ve been through the fire, reordered your life, and found your footing in faith, you don’t just carry wisdom...you carry a responsibility to share it. That’s something I’ve come to believe deeply. The stories and sonnets in Mentored for Good were never meant to stay on the page—they were meant to spark reflection, conversation, and change.
Let’s talk about what really matters. Let’s talk about what lasts. Let’s do it together.

New Book Released: Precision & Passion

You know, now and then, a project comes along that feels different. My latest book, "Precision & Passion: Four Decades with Surgical Instruments," is definitely one of those. I had the incredible honor of partnering with Bill Worland to bring his 40-year journey in surgical tools to life.
This book is really special because it's filled with Bill's own stories and insights, drawn from a career dedicated to craftsmanship and innovation. And the truth is, all this inspiration came from my weekly visits with Bill as he's in home hospice. Even in those moments, our time together is always filled with joy. If you appreciate the art of crafting things well, the drive to continually improve, or simply the deep satisfaction that comes with a meaningful career, I think you'll really connect with it.
It's a quick read, just 84 pages, but it's absolutely packed with lessons and reflections that I found incredibly inspiring. Working with Bill was a true joy—his passion, unique perspective, and unwavering commitment to excellence made this a deeply rewarding experience. I look forward to your reading it!
